Terms of use, and the limits that come with reading a register
Everything on this site is published information, not advice about a specific shipment, contract or company. Figures are read from sources that change; a number here is accurate as of the reading date printed beside it and may be different today. Nothing here is a recommendation to book with anyone, and a licence record is a floor rather than an endorsement.
No advice, and no relationship
Reading this site creates no professional relationship of any kind. SeaRates is not a freight forwarder, an NVOCC, a customs broker, a lawyer or an insurance intermediary, and nothing here is legal, customs, financial or insurance advice. Decisions about a shipment belong with the licensed parties handling it and with your own advisers.
The landed-cost calculator produces an estimate from published rules and measured medians. It is not a quote, and only a carrier or forwarder can issue one.
Accuracy, dates and corrections
Figures carry the date they were read because the sources move: the FMC register changed by nine records in two days, and ocean spot rates reprice weekly. We take care with every number and we will get some wrong. When that is pointed out with a source, the correction is published with the date it was made and the original figure stays visible.
To the extent the law allows, this site is provided as is, and SeaRates is not liable for loss arising from decisions taken on the basis of information published here.
Reuse of what is published here
You may quote figures and reproduce a chart with attribution to SeaRates, a link to the page carrying the figure, and the reading date kept attached to the number. The date is a condition rather than a courtesy: a figure republished without it stops being true quite quickly.
Bulk copying of pages, or republishing measurements as your own, is not permitted. Federal records quoted here are public and belong to no one; our counts, wording and charts are ours.
Company names and findings
Company names appear because they are in a public register or because a measured corpus names them, and they are used to identify the entity described. No affiliation or endorsement in either direction is implied.
If a page misstates a fact about your company, send the record that corrects it to the contact address and it will be fixed with the date attached. We do not remove findings on request and we do not sell placement.
