What this site collects, and what it deliberately does not
SeaRates asks for nothing. There is no account, no login, no newsletter wall and no gate in front of any figure or tool. The landed-cost calculator runs entirely in your browser: the values you type are never transmitted, never stored and never seen by us. The only address we publish is the one for corrections, and writing to it is the only way you can send us personal data.
The calculator, specifically
The landed-cost calculator is client-side JavaScript. Every figure you enter — cargo value, freight, volume, duty rate — is computed in the page and discarded when you close it. Nothing is posted to a server, nothing is written to storage, and no result is retained. That is a property of how it is built, not a policy that could be changed quietly: the page contains no code that could send those values anywhere.
The site sets no cookies of its own and shows no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
What a web server necessarily sees
Like any website, the host serving these pages receives the request itself: the address requested, the time, an IP address, a user agent and a referring page where the browser sends one. That is inherent to HTTP and is used to serve the page and keep the site running.
Analytics, advertising pixels and third-party trackers are not used. Fonts and stylesheets are served from this domain rather than a content network, which is why no third party learns that you visited.
Links out, and what they see
Pages here link to federal registers, industry publishers and, where disclosed, commercial providers. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under someone else's terms, and this policy no longer applies. SeaRates does not proxy the FMC register search or pass anything you type into it — those links open the federal application directly.
Corrections and your rights
If you write to the corrections address, we hold your message and whatever you put in it for as long as it takes to resolve the correction and to keep the change note honest. You can ask what we hold, ask for it to be deleted, or ask for a correction to be published anonymously, at the contact address.
If you are a company whose record is described here, the same applies, with one limit stated in advance: we correct facts with sources and we do not remove findings on request.
